From the starting position players play alternately; white playing the first time. Each game piece has a specific mode of travel, the parts that are available on a one-shot case may be taken: they are calledthreatened.. A piece that is taken is removed from play, the play that made the decision then takes his place on the board.
When the king is in danger of taking it says that it is.failure.. If this camp can not avoid taking (by moving the king on a non-endangered box, by interposing a piece or capture room overlooking failure), therecheckmate.and the game ends, the player with the king lost.
There are more special movement rules (.castling.,.en passant.) And the possibility for a pawn reaches the opposite edge of the board to turn into another room (.promotion.).
The term.checkmate.has.Sah Mata.(Ca.Persian., Either.sheykh mat.شيخ مات in.Arabic.), \x26quot;The king is dead\x26quot; to indicate the defeat of the King (incidentally, the word.sheykh.is the origin of the word failure and the name of failures in a number of languages and words.HSA.is the origin of the word.shah.).
Scoring shots.
Each column of a.chessboard.is designated by a letter (ah), and each row by a number (1-8) as shown in the diagram above. Thus, each cell can be designated by a letter and a number. For example, the case where the white king at the beginning of the party is the case e1. These coordinates allow to usealgebraic notation.shots, detailed below. Alternative notations are now abandoned.
Algebraic notation shots.
Shots a game of chess there quoting the number of the coup, the initial of the piece that moves (which differs depending on the language used by the French.P.for.Pawn.,.T.for.Tour.,.C.for.Cavalier.,.F.for.Crazy.,.D.for.Dame.,.R.for.King.) Then mentions the tee box and the check box. For example 1. Cg1f3 indicates that first time, the whites have moved their jumper box g1 f3 box. For black moves, is preceded the coup three dots (eg 1 .... Pe7e5). If there turn white and black blow blow, one brand that once the number (1. Cg1f3 Pe7e5).
When the piece that moves.capture an opponent\x26#39;s piece., Is mentioned by a cross. Eg 2. Pe4xd5 means that second shot, white caught with their pawn on e4 located the black piece that was on d5.
The.castling.noted in a special way: the castling is denoted 0-0, and castling 0-0-0.
La.en passant.is written as a normal outlet, the check box of the pin (note this is the case where the pin that stops there, not the case where the opposing pawn captured) are mentioned. We normally add E.P. following the sudden decision to indicate in passing, but that information is usually omitted.
La.promotion.a pawn piece is written by indicating the type of piece that the pawn is promoted at the end of stroke (eg E8D).
When the opponent\x26#39;s king is in.failure situation.after the shot, add the + symbol at the end of stroke (eg Dh4e2 +). If the opposing king ischeckmate. We replace the + with a # (or sometimes + +).
Shorthand strokes.
The practice shows that some information contained in the algebraic notation is often unnecessary. It was therefore implemented a more concise notation, called abbreviated algebraic notation. This is the notation that is used almost always nowadays. It differs from the algebraic notation on the following points:
- When the piece that moves is.pawn.It does not mark the P at the beginning of the shot.
- There is no mention of the box from the room.Because in most cases there is only one piece of the specified type that can go to the box. Example: the blow in algebraic notation to note 1 above Ne5 in abbreviated algebraic notation..
- In case of ambiguity on the part that moves.A: the letter of the column where the right part (eg one brand.rider.white f3, a.rider.white g4. Therider.f3 moves e5. Rate Ne5 is insufficient, then noted Cfe5).
- If there is still ambiguity. The letter of the column is replaced by the row number (change the previous example, consider a.rider.white and f3.rider.white f7. Ne5 or Cfe5 are both insufficient to identify the piece, it should be noted C3e5).
Evaluation of a sudden.
During a.analysis.party, commentator often needs to give its opinion on a stroke. We therefore integrated rating system symbols, inserted just after the coup, to give a simple notice on the spot. These symbols are:
- !.Very good shot.
- !.Good shot.
- ?.interesting shot.
- !.without doubt.
- ?.bad move.
- ?.very bad move.
Evaluation of a position.
Similarly, it is often useful to the end of the.analysis.a.variant.To give an opinion on the position resulting from this series of shots. Again, symbols have been incorporated into the notation to facilitate this task:
- + -.decisive advantage to white.
- + \x3d.slight advantage to white.
- \x3d.balanced position.
- \x3d +.slight advantage to black.
- - +.decisive advantage to blacks.
- ~.uncertain position.
